1992 year Highlights
Group went to Natchez Trace State Park
to see the Worlds Largest Pecan Tree. The shade from the tree covers one
acre! We also found a market where we all purchased several 6-Pack of
Coca-Cola for 99 cents per 6-pack.
Eight families journeyed to Biloxi,
MS where they toured forts, gardens,
and ships. Some of the men (in their 50's, 60's and even 70's rented and rode
jet skis. They also visited the French Quarter in New Orleans, LA.
Attend two great outdoor dramas about the life of our president Abe Lincoln.
Since the Statute of Limitations has run out, we will admit to one
"rigged" door prize drawing. One of our member (who's initials are
J.H. and had said that he never wins a door prize) was presented with a
rawhide dog bone for his "best friend" who's name was Trapper. Then
the real door prize drawing took place.
Membership continued to grow - up to 15 member families.
1993 - Highlights
We elected Laura
Ellerbusch as Chaplain for life. (She served until her retirement in 1999)
Several of the group went to Stone Mountain, GA and visited civil war sites,
a Cabbage Patch Hospital (where a couple of 'babies' were adopted), and Ruby
Falls, gold mines, covered bridges and water parks.
At the Diamond Lake
Resort near West Louisville,
KY we were honored by the owner
by having a "exclusive" race set up just for the 4-Rivers Flight 9
group. Dale Wright took the checkered flag!
A BIG snow that fell on trees that were in full fall colors didn't stop our
fun at Hillman Ferry for our Invitational Campout. Tarps and 3 big campfires
kept everyone warm enough.
1994 -Highlights
Started year with 17
family memberships. Even have our own street sign, "Jayco Boulevard" that we put up
near our flight sign.
Decided to host our first "4-Rivers Rally" in July 1995.
Celebrated our 15th anniversary at Rend
Lake State
Park.
Consumed 5 gallons of ice cream plus cake and other goodies at one mealtime.
All the go-cart racing must have effected the appetite.
Joined with the Tennessee
Campfire Sams for a homemade egg roll cook out.
We had concerns about our attendance at the August meeting…….14 member units
and 25 additional visitors. Shows lack of interest, right?
1995 - Highlights
Our first
"4-Rivers Rally" was a success. 39 units came from 7 states. It was
held at KY Dam Village State Park.
Five units went to the Jayco Family Reunion in Goshen, IN. (Really at Middlebury).
1996 - Highlights
Plans began early
for the 1997 "4-Rivers Rally".
Kenny Herring could not find his trailer when he returned home from work one
day. A group of the men had moved it to Dale Wright's garage - sent Ann for
parts - and repaired the breaks. What friends!
The way we "feast" at each campout must mean we are
"fasting" the rest of the month.
Toured Mammoth Cave
in Park City, KY.
1997 - Highlights
Began the year with 14
family memberships. Our second "4-Rivers Rally" was an even greater
success. There were 39 units from 7 states, 102 people from 10 different
"flights". Some enjoyed the area so much they stayed a couple of
days afterward.
This was the year for "blow-outs". There were 15+ just this summer.
Of course it was our own fault AT FIRST - but the tire company finally
admitted to having "some tire problems".
This was also the year for "camper exchange". As one person moved
into a larger unit, someone else would buy it and move up from their unit.
(like dominos)
Made the last trip possible to the Opryland
Theme Park where they
were selling-off the equipment and closing down.
1998 - Highlights
A couple of families
took a trip to the Holland Tulip Festival in Holland, MI.
When the men are near a Camping World - you know what they do? The same thing
that the ladies do when they are near a Big Shopping Mall.
Eight families attended the International Rally at Indiana
Beach, near Monticello, IN. There were 324 units, 756
people present.
Our yearly Invitational at Halloween was really busy with 12 member units and
5 visiting units.
The men decided if they are to be cooking breakfast for the ladies, they need
a gas grill. So…..a used one was found and purchased. (No more need to throw
away the pots and pans after cooking.)
1999 year.... to be continued
