2000-1
Winter Meeting - January 1, 2000
Shawnee Community College
Ullin, IL
The 4-Rivers Jayco members met at Shawnee Community College near Ullin, IL for our winter get together and to elect new club officers for 2000.  We certainly had better weather this year for our January meeting.  Instead of watching the snowfall, we got to watch the geese land on the lake.   In "hind-sight" we should have had the meeting on a different day and more could have attended as a lot of our group was out of town.

Those in attendance were Kyle & Crystal Allbritten with Ryan and Jordan, Odell & Deirdre Allbritten, Eugene & Faye Burden, Lindell & Laura Ellerbusch, John & Cynthia Haley, Bill & Betty Ryan, Bob & Wanda Ray, Ed & Johnnie Wyatt, and Frank & Pat Sherman.

We enjoyed a delicious potluck lunch with smoked turkey and ham and all the trimmings.  Our tables were set by the windows overlooking the lake with the geese flying in and out.  The Christmas decorations were still up so it gave the illusion of a festive occasion.   We put our chairs in a circle, and with Deirdre in charge of passing out numbers, we proceeded with the "gift exchange".  Boy!  This game could get mean.  I'm still not sure if this kind of gift exchange has a name, but it's similar to "Dirty Bingo".  We had some really great gifts that several of us wanted and tried to get, but it really takes strategy.  For those of you who missed this meeting, you'll just have to wait to get the details from someone else at the next meeting.  I think Bob Ray has video of the evidence.  But we really had a great time exchanging our gifts.

After the lunch and gift exchange, Odell called our meeting to order at 2:20 pm.  The minutes were read and approved.  Treasurer, Haley, reported we have $1,085.35 with three caps left to be sold.  The Ellerbusches expressed their wish to still receive newsletters and visit with our club when it was convenient for them.  We decided to have a "Friends of Jayco Flight #9" listing to include former members and others who wish to have some association with our club.  To receive newsletters, they would need to supply the secretary with 12 stamped, self-addressed envelopes.

Since Frank & Pat Sherman have been camping with us several times and found us suitable company, we asked them to join our group.  After watching the "gift exchange", I wasn't sure if they would want to be around us, but they joined and we welcome them.

Our meeting in February will be at the Grecian Steakhouse in Paducah, KY on Saturday, February 5, 2000 at 5:00 pm.  I think Odell got a count of the ones who were planning to attend, but if you weren't at the January meeting, you need to call Jim Borum (618-524-8072) so he can include you in reservations.  Our first campout for the season will be in March at Columbus Belmont.  The date will be decided at the February meeting.  Wanda Ray brought up the idea of camping at campgrounds that our club hasn't camped at in quite some time.  Your last newsletter included a listing of places our club has been in the past 11 years.  Look over the listing and bring some good ideas

It was time for election of new officers for 2000.  Bob Ray made a motion to keep the same officers that served in 1999 with a second from Eugene Burden.  Officers for 2000 are as follows:

President - Odell Allbritten  Vice Pres/Wagonmaster - Jim Borum
Secretary - Betty Ryan  Treasurer - Cynthia Haley
Co-Activities Directors - Crystal Allbritten & Mitzi Borum

Odell read a thank-you note from the Ellerbusches for the 60th anniversary gift of a throw cover and Montegos gift certificate from our Jayco Club members.  We discussed the decorations for the International Rally.  The Rays will provide the door prize for the Feburary meeting.  The meeting was adjourned.  After the meeting the Rays taught some of us how to play Skipbo while other played dominoes and others visited.  We all really had a wonderful time.

We really missed all that were absent, but hope the Eleams, Proffitts and Bennetts are enjoying the warm weather of the South.  Hope to see all the rest of you Saturday, February 5, at Grecians Steakhouse in Paducah.

Betty Ryan, Secretary
