April Meeting --April 7 – 9, 2000
Redman Creek
Lake Wappapello,  MO

The Flight #9 Jaycos had our April outing at Redman Creek campground at Lake Wappapello, MO.  Eugene & Faye Burden arrived with wonderful weather on Thursday.  Those of us who waited until Friday, got the wind and rain.  Those arriving on Friday were Bill & Betty Ryan, Frank & Pat Sherman, Ed & Johnnie Wyatt, John & Cynthia Haley with Johnny and his friend, Jan & Dale Wright, Odell & Deirdre Allbritten, Kyle & Crystal Allbritten with Ryan & Jordan.  Dave and Martha Sue Peters came on Saturday and stayed with the Wrights.  Guests who camped with us were Denny & Elsie Hinkle from Buncombe, IL and former members Larry & Becky Buehler from Advance, MO.  Visiting with the Buehlers were David, Tina & Haley Gifford from Oran, MO, and visiting with Kyle & Crystal were Jill & Jerry Tracy from Springfield, MO. Friday night we had quite a storm, but after all the wind and rain, we still had our campfire at the Wyatt’s campsite. Faye captured a beautiful picture of our campfire and put it on our web page so others could share in the beauty.  Saturday was sunny and a little chilly but we still made the rounds of flea markets and other sites around the Poplar Bluff area.  There was also fishing, biking and just visiting around the campfire. Saturday afternoon we had our monthly meeting around the campfire. Odell called the meeting to order at 3:30 PM.  Visitors were recognized and the minutes from the March meeting were read and approved.  Haley reported $1,088.83 in our club treasury. Under old business we discussed the International Rally plans for the stage decorations that our club will be doing.  Final plans for the stage will be made later.  Dale, Rally Chairman, brought us up to date on plans for our 4-State Rally that we will be hosting in July 2001.  He has made reservations at the Restaurant for our Saturday morning breakfast, made arrangements with Kentucky Dam Village State Park for campsites, tables and golf cart.  They told him the price would probably be the same as last time, $10.20 per night.  Jim Young will do the cooking for our Friday night dinner.  Dale had samples of the flyers for the Rally, and they will be distributed at the International Rally this year, the Jayco factory, be on our Website, and published in the Jayco Jafari Hitch. Under the wagon- master report, dinner would be at 5 PM at the Black Angus Steak House near the camp-
ground.  The next campout would be at Reelfoot Lake, May 19-21 with the men cooking breakfast. (The listing for breakfast is at the end of this newsletter)THE CAMPING SITE HAS BEEN CHANGED TO PINEY AT LBL IN TENNESSEE.

Dale mentioned that reservations needed to be made for the Fall Creek Falls extra campout in September, and also reservations should be made for the campout at Rend Lake in June. As I mentioned in last month’s newsletter, the Burden’s were donatingthe door prize, which I assumed would be pretty special.  With much anticipation the ticket was drawn, and Johnnie & Ed Wyatt won the beautiful pillow which was made by the very talented Faye.  Odell & Deirdre Allbritten will donate the May door prize.  The meeting was adjourned. We all had a wonderful meal at the Black Angus on Saturday evening and then enjoyed visiting around the campfire.  Sunday morning we had church services, and then we all packed up and headed home.  Another wonderful weekend of camping with friends.

Since our last campout: Our site for our May campout has changed---Due to Reelfoot Lake State Park possibly being full, we will be at Piney Campground at the Land Between the Lakes near Paris Tennessee May 19 – 21. Most of us who know we will be camping June 9 – 11 at Rend Lake, have made reser- vations in the Pintail Loop.  If you haven’t made your reservations yet, you can call (877) 444 6777.  If Pintail Loop is full, Ringneck Loop is next to Pintail, just through the pines.  The price is $14 per night, or with Golden Age passport, $7 per night. For the July campout at Canal Campground, Grand Rivers, KY, some of us have made reservations on Fisherman’s Row. This campout will be while several from our club will be on the Western Trip. Dale has made reser- vations for Fall Creek Falls for Labor Day weekend for the Wrights, Odell Allbritten, Shermans, Haleys, Ryans, Burdens, Borums, Taylors, Peters and Rays.  Each of the above owe the club $33
for the weekend.  If anyone else would like to make this trip, call 1-800-250-8611 for reservations.

New Arrivals:  Durwood and Rheitta Eleam are the proud grandparents of their first grandbaby, a girl born April 13.   Bill & Betty Ryan have a new grandson born April 26.
