4-Rivers Jayco Flight #9
August Meeting 18-20, 2000
John James Audubon State Park
Henderson KY

The Jayco Birds “flew” to Henderson KY in August to camp at the John James Audubon State Park. We had a good turn out and the weather was really nice. Those in attendance were: Jim Borum, Eugene & Faye Burden, Durwood and Rheitta Eleam, Denny & Elsie Hinkle, Norman & Jean Proffitt, Bob & Wanda Ray, Bill & Betty Ryan, Frank & Pat Sherman and Dale & Jan Wright.  Our Florida friends, Rex & Barbara Whitehurst, were still in the area and camped with us. Also, we were glad to have Jug & Marilyn Edmison from Madisonville camp with us again. John Haley came on Saturday morning to help the men cook breakfast and stayed for our club meeting.

Friday night several went out for supper at the Tumbleweed South Western Grill. Later we all enjoyed sitting around the campfire.  Saturday morning the men got the grill going at the shelter and cooked the ladies a delicious pancake breakfast. Rex & Barbara brought a bowl of fresh fruit to add the finishing touch to our breakfast.

After breakfast, Jim Borum called our club meeting to order. Visitors were recognized and the minutes from the July meeting were read and approved. John reported $1,090.86 in the club treasury. Under old business, Durwood reported the decorations at the International Rally were really nice with the trees and lights being given away as door prizes at the Rally. Durwood also complimented Faye on what a good job she has done on our club website. Rheitta  wanted everyone to know that she has the club picture album at each campout for anyone to view if they wish.

Under new business we decided that the club should purchase two plastic boxes and various table supplies for our potlucks and breakfast. I believe that the Rays and Eleams will carry the boxes of supplies.

Under Rally Business Dale reported that he acquired 13 dozen pairs of sunglasses from the Gillette Rally that will be put in the packets for our State Rally next July. Also we have purchased eight Beanie Baby JayBirds for Rally prizes. We will have name badges with a bar at the Rally for all participants. Dale has lots of flyers for anyone who
would like to distribute them to Jayco owners, and flyers have been placed in the Jayco Service & Visitors Center in Middlebury IN and Youngbloods RV Center. Frank & Pat Sherman were asked to be in charge of the games as they did such a great job with games at the International Rally. There was no Activities Report. Under the
Wagonmaster Report, Jim reported the next campout would be at
Cave-In-Rock State Park. THIS CAMPOUT HAS BEEN CHANGED DUE TO PARK
BEING CLOSED FOR REPAIR.  The campout will be held at Kentucky Dam Village State Park in Gilbertsville KY, September 22 –24 with a fish fry on Friday night (bring a potluck dish), and Saturday Youngbloods will have an RV show and BBQ.

The door prize was won by the Wrights and was donated by the Eleams.
We also had a drawing for two Jayco shirts, which were won by the Hinkles. The Ryans will donate the September door prize.  The meeting was adjourned.

After breakfast several of us took a hike up to the John James Audubon Museum to see all of the bird paintings and read the history of Mr. Audubon. On the way to the Museum we all stopped off to have a look at the Hinkles new Jayco Eagle Fifth Wheel.  It is very nice, but if anyone has problems with their TV cable, you might want to ask the Hinkles how to fix it. I think it is pretty expensive.

Saturday afternoon several went shopping, some played cards while other visited around the fire. Saturday night most of us went out to supper at various restaurants and afterward sat around the campfire. Sunday morning church was at the campground shelter.

Over Labor Day weekend the Hinkles, Rays, Ryans, Wrights, Burdens, Amy Peters & Wes Owens & Odell Allbrittens traveled to Fall Creek Falls State Resort Park south of Cookeville TN.  It is such a beautiful park with all the falls and suspended bridges.  Dale & Jan had to leave on Sunday due to Jan’s father being hospitalized.  Faye & Elsie walked all the way to the bottom of the falls and back up.  That required an afternoon nap, right girls.  We all had a great time. See these Mt climbers here.
