| 2000-10 4-Rivers Jayco Flight #9 October Meeting, 2000 The 4-Rivers Jaycos held their 12th annual October Invitational Halloween campout at Hillman Ferry. The weather was great, and we had a very good turn out again this year with around 80 in attendance. We hadten member units camping: Kyle & Crystal Allbritten with Jordan and Ryan, Odell & Deirdre Allbritten with Aaron Paul, Jim & Mitzi Borum with Jarrod & Steven Schmidt, Durwood & Rheitta Eleam with Susan & Audrey Thompson, Dennie & Elsie Hinkle with Trenton Lowery & Jasmine Lence, Norman & Jean Proffitt, Bob & Wanda Ray, Bill & Betty Ryan, Frank & Pat Sherman, and Dale & Jan Wright. Eugene & Faye Burden visited on Friday evening and brought their Internet friend with them, Theresa Davie from British Columbia, Canada. John Haley came on Saturday for the chili supper. We were glad to have all our visitors again this year for our Invitational Campout. Due to the death of a close family friend Bill & I missed a lot of the festivities this year. Rheitta helped me out with a list of all our visitors. Visiting the Borums were Bethany Huffman, Brittany Huffman, B.J. Lampley, Ashley Legeriet, Aaron Clark, Jeff & Beth Kelly with Rachel & Kaylela; visiting the Rays were Wallace & Carolyn Smith; visiting the Wrights were Dave & Charlotte Sheehan, Michele, Daniel & Chelsea Duncan; visiting the Ryans were Randy & Mary Kessel with Austin & Ryanne, Rick & Tiffiney Ryan with Colin, and Aaron & Vicki Allbritten with Tristyn; other visitors were Kirk & Laurie Clark with Rachel Clark, Katie Clark & Mallory Hardimin, Carl & Tammy O’Saile with Carrie & Ronnie, Tom & Debra Horn with Chris and Makayla, Garrett Oestmann, Hal & Emma Hicks with Paul & Dallas Faughn, Charles & Marla McElroy, Harvey Smith & Maureen, Steve & Lynn O’Saile with Tabitha, Eli & Jeremiah, and Bob & Mary Lauderdale. Also camping with us were Jim & Donna Young and Randy & Vicki Knight with their sons. I’m sorry if we missed anyone. Friday evening we all visited around the campfire at the Rays. Saturday morning and afternoon everyone was carving pumpkins and decorating their campers for the evening contests. We have some pretty creative people in this group. Saturday morning we all met at Odell’s campsite for our meeting. Odell called the meeting to order at 10:15 am and welcomed all the visitors. The minutes were read from the September meeting and approved. Haley was not present to give a treasurers report, but later he reported we have $605.82 with $228.00 to be collected for reservations at Nashville, minus $100 to be given for prizes for the evening contests ($733.82). Under old business it was announced the supper would be at 5:30pm in the pavilion. Eleams and Rays are carrying the club tableware supplies that the club purchased. Rheitta reported she was taking pictures for Faye to put on our website. We discussed having a club display and possible short video in the new show room at Youngbloods RV. We were going to try to find someone to do a video and check out the cost. Vicki Knight thanked all the guys for helping her with her camper at Kentucky Dam Village in September after she had to leave suddenly due to the illness of Randy. The activities for the afternoon were discussed. Donna Young would be the judge for the pumpkin-carving contest, Wanda Ray would judge the costume contest after supper, the campsites would be judged after supper and the kids would “trick or treat”. Everyone would gather back at the pavilion at 8 PM for the prizes. (The winners are listed at the end of this newsletter). Under the Wagon Master report, Jim Borum reported our next campout would be November 10-12 in Nashville TN at the Two Rivers Campground (off Briley Parkway next to Camping World). Ten reservations were made for both Allbrittens, Borums, Burdens, JugHead, Eleams, Hinkles, Knights, Ryans and Wrights and paid for by the club, and each person are to reimburse the club $22.80. Saturday morning we will eat breakfast at 9am at Opryland Hotel at the breakfast buffet. Everyone is on their own for Saturday evening. The Christmas get together will be December 9 in Metropolis at the First Baptist Family Life Center on Sixth & Girard Street. We will start gathering about 11 am for a potluck lunch at noon, elect new officers, a fun game called “Dirty Santa” and other games. Bring a man’s gift and a woman’s gift (around $10 or whatever you want), and if you have children, bring a gift for them. For the potluck, each family needs to bring a meat, vegetable or salad, and a dessert. The club will provide the drinks and tableware. The Wrights won the door prize that was donated by Kyle & Crystal Allbritten. The Peters will donate the door prize in November. The meeting was adjourned with a motion from Jim and seconded by Frank. Saturday evening after all the Halloween festivities, several gathered at Odell & Deirdre’s campfire for visiting. Church was held Sunday morning at the campground amphitheater with 30 members attending. This was a really nice fall weekend for camping. I’m just sorry we had to miss so much of it, but we are looking forward to our Nashville trip. Thanks to Rheitta for her help with this newsletter.
