2000-11

4-Rivers Jayco Flight #9
November Meeting – Nov. 10-12, 2000
Two Rivers Campground
Nashville TN

Our November campout was held in Nashville TN at the Two Rivers
Campground.  The weather was a little cold starting off, but by Sunday
it was beautiful.  For me this campout was rather sad because I knew
this would be our last club campout for the year.  But as I unloaded the
camper after we got home, I was anxiously looking forward to March, and
flushing out all that “pink stuff” that Bill had just put through the
pipes and getting on the road again.  I think I’m part gypsy.
Gene & Faye Burden were the first to arrive on Thursday.  Everyone else
arrived by Friday night: Dale & Jan Wright, Durwood & Rheitta Eleam with
their daughter Susan and granddaughter Audrey, Kyle & Crystal Allbritten
with Ryan & Jordan, Odell & Deirdre Allbritten, Randy & Vicki Knight
with their son Nathan, Bill & Betty Ryan, and Dennie & Elsie Hinkle.
Visiting with us were former member, Bob & Pat Snow from Paducah KY.
Our friends, Jim & Donna Young, stayed in Nashville Friday night and
joined us for breakfast at the Opryland Hotel on Saturday morning.
Friday evening some of us went downtown Nashville for supper and then
drove over to the mall at Franklin which wasn’t too crowded for a Friday
night.  Some of us night owls had coffee late Friday night at the nearby
Cracker Barrel Restaurant.  On Saturday at 8:30 A.M. we met at the camp
office to wait on the Trolley for the ride to Opryland Hotel.  We waited
but the Trolley didn’t run that early so we took our trucks to the Hotel
for a delicious buffet breakfast at the Cascade’s Restaurant.  After
breakfast we agreed to meet at the Delta Island for a short meeting.
At 10:30 A.M. Odell called our November meeting to order with a welcome
to all our visitors, the Knights, Snows, Youngs, Susan and Audrey.  The
minutes for the October meeting were not read, but the following
corrections were made to them.  For the costume contest at Hillman the
winner for Frankenstein was Eli O’Saile and the Pirate was Christopher
Horn.  There was no treasurer’s report or no old business to be
discussed.  Under new business the Christmas party will be Saturday,
December 9, at the First Baptist Family Life Center in Metropolis on
Sixth and Girard Street.  Jan will have the tables set up and get the
drinks ready.  Bring a $10 gift (or whatever you would like) for each of
you to exchange.  If you bring children, be sure to bring a gift for
them.  Jan made a motion and was seconded by Dierdre to accept the
Knights as our newest members to Flight 9 Jaycos.  We want to welcome
Randy, Vicki and Nathan to our club, and hope they enjoy being with us.
We are glad to have them join.  We decided to meet at the campground at
4:30 P.M. Saturday afternoon to decide where we would go for supper and
where we would go for church on Sunday morning.  The Burdens won the
door prize, which was donated by the Peters.  The meeting was adjourned
at 10:40 A.M.
Randy Knight’s birthday is August 13, Vicki’s April 18, and their
anniversary is
September 16.  Their e-mail address is knight77@midwest.net and address
is 208 Pine St., Energy IL 62933.
After the meeting everyone went different directions looking at all the
Christmas decoration at the hotel and eventually going over to the Opry
Mills Mall for some serious shopping.  That evening most of us went to
the nearby Cock of the Walk for supper.  After supper the Ryans,
Wrights, Snows, and Hinkles went back to the mall and took in a movie.
It had been so long since I have been to a movie, I didn’t realize they
have improved the seating so much.
On Sunday morning several went to the “Cowboy Church”, some of us headed
home, while some made one last trip back to the Bass Pro Shop.  Jan &
Dale stayed in Nashville all day because they had to pick up Meagan at
the airport that evening returning from Germany.  We really had a great
time in Nashville.  I hope we can do this again next year.
It doesn’t seem possible that this is the end of my second year as
secretary.   I’m sure you are looking forward to having a new writer for
the club newsletters for next year (I certainly am).  Time really flies
when you are having fun, or at least that’s what I’ve heard, and I have
enjoyed these past two years, but I’m looking forward to someone else
being secretary.

On Saturday, December 9, bring 11 self-addressed, stamped envelopes for
next years newsletters if you want them mailed to you.  Let the new
secretary know if you wish to have the newsletter e-mailed to you or
mailed by postal service.  Also I think the postage is going up to 34
cents for next year.  The door prize list is below.
