| 2000-12 4-Rivers JAYCO Club - Flight #9 December 2000 Newsletter Happy Jayco Campers, The 4-Rivers Jayco Club - Flight #9 had its December meeting on the 9th at the Family Life Center of the First Baptist Church in Metropolis, IL. The following members began gathering around 10:30 a.m. dressed in festive Christmas attire: Odell and Deirdre Allbritten; Jim and Mitzi Borum with Jared and Jessica; Eugene and Faye Burden; Durwood and Rheitta Eleam; John and Cynthia Haley with granddaughter Elizabeth; Dennie and Elsie Hinkle; Randy and Vicki Knight; Norman and Jean Proffitt; Bill and Betty Ryan; George and Mary Taylor; Frank and Pat Sherman; Ed and Johnnie Wyatt; Dale and Jan Wright; and visitors Don and Joann Bennett, Bob and Mary Lauderdale, and Jim and Donna Young. After visiting for a short time a wonderful potluck lunch was shared at noon. Odell led us in a prayer of thanksgiving for the food, our friends, and our safe, happy year of camping. Thanks to those members of First Baptist for allowing us to have our Christmas gathering in their Life Center! After a delicious meal, our business meeting was called to order by president Odell. He welcomed members, guests, and especially our newest members, Randy and Vicki Knight and son, Nathan. Minutes of the last meeting were read by secretary, Betty. They were approved as read. A treasurers’ report was given by treasurer, John. He reported an approximate balance of $680 with some outstanding bills. There was no old business discussed. Under new business, the club gave a round of applause to thank the outgoing officers for all their hard work. Thanks again! Election for 2001 officers was held. Nominees were: President - Bill Ryan and Dale Wright; vice-president - Odell Allbritten and Eugene Burden; secretary - Deirdre Allbritten; treasurer - Dennie Hinkle; activities director - Pat Sherman. Elected were: President - Bill Ryan Vice-president/Wagon Master - Eugene Burden Second Vice-president/Program and Activities Director - Pat Sherman Assisted by Vicki Knight Secretary - Deirdre Allbritten Treasurer - Dennie Hinkle Serving as co-chaplians will be Jim Borum and Odell Allbritten. Congratulations and thanks to our new officers! New president Bill Ryan took the gavel and finished conducting the meeting. There was a discussion on providing an ATM or check card for the treasurer. It will be investigated. Dates and places for our 2001 campouts were discussed. Faye made a motion, seconded by Rheitta, and approved by the membership that a January get-to-gather be held on Friday, January 19 at KY Dam Lodge at 6:30 p.m. Reservations will be made for 24 - 30. Odell and Deirdre invited everyone to their home for a potluck supper for Friday, February 16 at 6:30 p.m. Motion was made to accept the invitation by Jim, seconded by Jan, and approved by the membership. A menu will be in the January newsletter. George Taylor thanked everyone for the flowers that were sent to him. We are thankful that Jean and George are doing great! A motion to adjourn was made by Jim and seconded by Eugene. President Bill Ryan adjourned the meeting. The business meeting was followed by a rousing game of Dirty Santa. Thank goodness Santa is not as dirty as these Jaycoers! We all received a great gift! Several members went back for another plate of food or more dessert while others packed up and headed for home. Can’t wait to be back on the road camping! See you in January 2001!
