Flight 9 had its August campout on the 10th - 12th at Town and Country Campground in
Sikeston, MO with 14 of its 18 member families present.  Those attending were Kyle and Crystal
Allbritten, Jordan and Ryan; Odell and Deirdre Allbritten; Jim and Mitzi Borum, and Jessica;
Durwood and Rheitta Eleam; Dennie and Elsie Hinkle; Randy and Vicki Knight, and Nathan;
Norman and Jean Proffitt; Dave and Martha Sue Peters; Bill and Betty Ryan; Bob and Wanda
Ray; George and Mary Taylor; Frank and Pat Sherman; Ed and Johnnie Wyatt; Dale and Jan
Wright, Michele, Daniel, and Chelsea; and guests Sam and Marguerite Beaman; Curtis and Vera
McCallister; Bob and Patsy Snow, and Tyler; Jim and Donna Young.  Visiting during the
weekend were the Peters’ daughter and friend.

Most units arrived on Thursday evening to be greeted by heat, humidity, and the threat of rain.  I
don’t think anyone felt the need for our customary “roarin’ fire”.  The campground water turned
out to be very dirty, so most of us went shopping for water filters for our units as soon as
possible.   Friday found us shopping at the Outlet Mall; the Ag stores in the area were popular
with the guys; and it was reported that the Ag Museum and Antique Shop was very interesting.
At 5:00 p.m. we loaded into a van provided by Lambert’s Restaurant and enjoyed a famous
Lambert’s meal including, of course, those famous “throwed rolls”.  We were ushered in the
backdoor and right to our tables!  WOW!  That’s service!  After supper, a few brave souls
ignored the heat and humidity and gathered outside the Ryan’s camper for a visit.  The highlight
of the evening was a “wasp killin’ ” which included fire and smoke.

On Saturday morning Bill and Betty “sprang” for donuts and we all enjoyed donuts and coffee at
their campsite.  Bill then called our business meeting to order and welcomed all members and
guests.  The minutes of the July  meeting were read and approved.

Wagon master’s report:
In September we will be at Grand Tower, IL on the14th - 16th at the Grand Tower City Park.
There will be electric and water at $8 per night.  Vicki will hold a scrapbooking session.  If you
are interested, bring pictures.  Also, the Cape County Fair will be in progress.  The men will be
cooking breakfast for the ladies on Saturday morning.  At the end of this newsletter, you will find
a menu and items to bring.  Supper on Saturday night will be on your own.

September 20 - 23 will be the Family Reunion Factory Rally

October 12 - 14 will be a Good Sam Rally at Carson Park in Paducah, KY.
This secretary has registration forms.

Treasurer’s report:
Dennie reported a balance of  “about” $1078.92 in our club account.  He reported a profit of
$231.71 on the rally.  It was stated that our goal was not to make a profit, but that amount might
not be a large enough cushion.  There are a few hats left to be sold.
Program/activities report:
None - just “have fun”!

Old Business:
Mitzi will be donating slide bingo cards that her Homemakers Club no longer uses.  She will
check on disposable cards too.  A motion was made and passed that the club will purchase 2
decks of  “Bingo caller cards” for $10, and if Mitzi will not be able to donate disposable cards, to
purchase a box of them also.

It was suggested that the name of  the campground be printed in the newsletter along with the
town.

The secretary passed out an updated membership list and everyone was asked to check their info
for errors.  The following is a list of corrections:
John and Cynthia Haley’s e-mail address:  ddetal36@hotmail.com
Bob and Wanda Ray’s e-mail address:  wandaray@iolky.com

New business:
It was suggested that we omit the reading of the minutes at our meetings.  This cannot be done
because it is in the bylaws that they should be read.

It was suggested that the club reimburse Bill and Betty for the donuts, but they vetoed the
suggestion.

Dale will be writing a report on the International Rally.

It was suggested that  a cell phone number list be created for use by members when traveling.  If
you would like to add your number to the following list, let the secretary know.

The door prize was drawn by Bill and won by the O. Allbrittens. It was donated by the Wrights.
The door prize next month will be donated by the Burdens.

After the meeting, several went to the “Redneck Barbecue”.  Saturday evening we attended the
Jaycee Bootheel Rodeo.  We had great seats and a cool breeze!  After the rodeo, several went for
an early breakfast.  “Kids, it’s 3 a.m.  Do you know where your parents are?”  You did a great job
on all the plans, Bill.  Thanks!  Dale and Jan had to leave in the night because Megan was sick.
We hope she is fully recovered.

On Sunday, Odell presented the lesson and George led the singing.  Everyone began heading for
home.

It was another great campout with good friends!  See you all in September.
