Our president, Bill, got the day started off early by calling our meeting to order at 9:00 a.m., welcoming all members and guests. The minutes of the last meeting were read by Deirdre, and approved. Wagon Master, Gene, reported that our last campout of the year will be November 9 - 11 at Two Rivers Campground in Nashville, TN. He will be making reservations for those at the meeting who are planning to attend. Those who were not at the meeting but are planning to attend will need to call the campground and make their own reservations. We will meet for breakfast at the Opryland Hotel on Saturday morning at 9:00, with a short business meeting to follow. Odell and Dale are checking on available dates at their respective church’s Family Life Center facilities for a December gathering to be announced at the November meeting. An e-mail has been received from Dale stating that he has made a reservation at the Life Center of the First Baptist Church in Metropolis for December 29. Details will be announced at our November meeting. Dennie reported that we have a balance of $1117.81 in the bank. In new business, it was decided that the 2000 Outstanding Participation plaque would be given to Youngblood’s RV Center to display. It was given by the Jayco office for excellent participation in sending in articles for publication in the Jafari Hitch. Great job Betty! Also, Wanda will purchase club supplies (paper products etc.) and turn in the bill to the treasurer. Motions were made and seconded to invite two new members to join Flight 9. The Beamans and the Dawsons were invited to join with a unanimous vote. The Beamans information was in the August newsletter. The Dawsons information is as follows: Steve and Judy Dawson 2615 W. The Odell Allbrittens will furnish the November door prize. A motion was made and passed to adjourn the meeting. The rest of the day on Saturday was spent carving pumpkins, cooking, and just enjoying the beautiful day. Some of our young men even went fishing, and they had good luck! Their catch was a little to small to fry but the boys didn’t care. They had a great time! Good food, wonderful costumes, great camper decorations, and lots of fun was enjoyed by a group of 103 on Saturday evening! Our own Donna Young, and Everett Frizele, and Deon Davis from Dongola, IL (acquaintances of the Hinkles who just happened to be camping at Hillman’s Ferry) were the judges for the evening. Dennie and Elsie Hinkle have just returned from spending a week in New York City working on a disaster relief team through the Southern Baptist Convention. They worked in a group who prepared meals for workers. To have this opportunity is very exciting and we are proud of you, Dennie and Elsie! Many attended church services on Sunday morning. There was more visiting around the campfire, and then the trip back to the real world began. The O. Allbrittens and the McElroys decided to wait around until the Wrights left to make sure Dale didn’t get his finger hung in the wheel chock again. He made it! What a wonderful, beautiful weekend! Ho-Ho-hope to see everyone in November at Nashville as we begin our Christmas shopping! Deirdre Allbritten, secretary (Please accept my apologies if any name is left out or misspelled! Also for leaving names off the e-mail list!) |
