                                                                     June 2003 Newsletter

Our June campout was our bi-yearly Rally.  It was held at Ky Dam Village State Park.  The following members were in attendance:   Odell & Deirde Allbritten, Jim & Mitzi Borum, Steve & Judy Dawson with Christina, Danielle, Craig and Kaitlin, Durwood & Rheitta Eleam, John & Cynthia Haley with Johnny and Company, Dennie & Elsie Hinkle, Randy & Vicki Knight with Sarah, Olivia and Saundra Marie, Charlie & Marla McElroy, Dave & Martha Sue Peters, Norman & Jean Proffitt , Bob & Wanda Ray, Bill & Betty Ryan, Frank & Pat Sherman, George & Mary Taylor with Cody, Dale & Jan Wright with Daniel and Chelsea.  Those visiting over the weekend were Roger, Tammy, Chase, Dexter, Trevor, & Macy Youngblood, Barbara Youngblood, Jessica Borum, the Eleam’s daughter Susan  and her daughters, the Ray’s daughter Ruth, and the Ryan’s daughter Mary and her children.

Several members and guest units arrived on Wednesday, the hottest day!  On Thursday the work began, some went to Youngblood’s and brought new units to be viewed, and then there were the shoppers (a vital job to every outing) who visited Wal-mart.  A crew got together and put up the tents and stuff the bags. Registration began Friday morning at 10:00.  We had 20 rigs visit our Rally this year.  We had a total of 36 rigs (members & friends)!   We had a wonderful catered dinner of pork Bar-B-Que from “Larry, Darrel & Darrel” served by our own “Jayco Mama’s”.  Joining us for dinner were the Ladies and Gentlemen of the “Kitchen Band”.  They put on a great show!  Door Prizes were given away after dinner.  On Saturday morning we all enjoyed a buffet breakfast at the Kentucky Dam Convention Center. More door prizes were given away along with the 50/50 drawing which was won by Bill Ryan.  Roger Youngblood was available for questions on Saturday morning at the campground.  There was also a scrapbooking class, which was a hit.  Saturday afternoon everyone enjoyed games.  We had Marshmallow golf, wagon parking, bottle fishing, face painting, turtle racing, washers, & horseshoes.  All the children won a prize for their efforts.  The Adults played for money; the big winner was Randy Knight, 2nd place Don Eizenga, & 3rd place Charlie McElroy.  Congratulations Gentlemen.  We had several Ladies (21 yrs old) win our booby prizes; they were Joy Knight, Linda Hauchildt. Deb Heisel, Elsie Hinkle, Cynthia Haley, & Marla McElroy!   Ladies next Rally I expect to see some Women win first place and not all the Booby prizes!!!

Saturday afternoon we held our business meeting.  Dale asked that we think about having our next Rally in St. Louis or Nashville, TN.  (Flight 9 members please see attached business minutes).

Saturday evening we all enjoyed the Bluegrass sounds of the Cope Brothers.  I think everyone had a great time!! They did a great job!

On Sunday morning Youngblood’s RV Center furnished doughnuts, fruit, juice and coffee for everyone and our 2003 Rally came to a close.  Thanks to all who came and joined us for a weekend of fun!!!  Hope to see our new friends soon (maybe at our next campout).  It was nice to see our old friends again as well!!!  Thanks to all who worked hard to make our Rally a big success.  Thanks to Wanda, Ann, Martha Sue, Betty, Odell, Dale, Randy and all the others!!!  Without our Flight 9 members we couldn’t have done it.  Thanks Again!!!
