September 2003 Newsletter

Other than a little rain on Saturday, we had a great weekend for camping.  Those in attendance were Jim & Mitzi Borum with Jessica, Steve & Judy Dawson with Danielle, Craig, & Kaitlin, Durwood & Rheitta Eleam, Dennie & Elsie Hinkle, John Haley, Randy & Vicki Knight with Saundra Brookshire & Jenny, Norman & Jean Proffitt, Bob & Wanda Ray, Frank & Pat Sherman, George & Mary Taylor, Dale & Jan Wright.  Camping with us for the weekend were, Roger Barrall & Kay Frasier, Don & Dot Eizenga, Bob & Mary Lauderdale, Glen & Rosann Lingle, Rusty & Carolyn Rhodes, Harvey Smith & Maureen.  Jim & Donna Young had to leave early, Jim’s Mother was ill.  Those visiting us for Potluck Dinner on Saturday night were Nathan Knight & Julie, Jim & Shar Cool, Betty & Jerry Barrall, Jim, Susan, Audrey, & Katie Thompson.

Some arrived on Thursday and the weather was perfect for a campfire.  We hardly had our air conditioner on all weekend.  The temperature was perfect.  Friday evening we joined around the campfire again and caught up on the happenings of our camping family.  We wish Kenny & Ann’s son a speedy recovery and hope to see the whole gang at our next campout.  Saturday morning the men cooked breakfast.  I don’t think we had many leftovers.  The food was delicious.  They did an excellent job.  The pancakes and eggs were great.  We certainly have some good cooks in Flight 9.

Saturday afternoon was spent hiking trails, fishing, playing cards, & napping.  We had 49 for dinner on Saturday night.  There was something for everyone.  If you couldn’t find anything to eat, you weren’t looking.  There was so much food it wouldn’t fit on 2 picnic tables.  There was even ice cream for dessert.  After dinner we had our monthly business.  Joining Flight 9 was Roger Barrall & Kaye Frasier.  WELCOME!  See the minutes following the newsletter.  The fun came after the meeting – BINGO!!  What a blast we had!  Elsie did a good job calling Bingo.  The Herring’s furnished the door prize and the Dawson’s won!
