Business Meeting January 2004

Dale welcomed everyone, and opened the business meeting. Vicki read the minutes from the last meeting, minutes were accepted as read. Steve said we had $815.71 in the checking account.  Dues for 2004 are requested now.  They are $9.00.  If you haven’t paid, please do so soon.  You may mail them to Steve Dawson – 2615 West Kent Drive – Carbondale, IL  62901.

Dale mentioned that we have several snow birds.  The Eleam’s, Taylor’s, Burden’s, & Rhode’s are in Texas.  The Proffit’s & Sherman’s are in Florida.

OLD BUSINESS:  Our next meeting is scheduled for February 28.  Dale asked for suggestions.  The Rays mentioned Holmes Buffet.  Jan suggested El Tequilas in Metropolis.  John Haley suggested we wait and eat at the Mexican restaurant during our campout.  Vicki suggested 5:00 PM for those who have to drive.  It was decided that we would meet at 5:00 PM at Holmes restaurant in Mayfield, KY.

If you are planning on attending the campout, let Bill Ryan know.  He is getting us a group rate at the Town & Country Campground and tickets to the rodeo.

Dale had 4 suggestions for the Mammoth Cave campout.  After some discussion, Wanda will check on another campground and we will decide in February where to go, and make reservations by March campout.

If you are planning on attending the Lake Carlyle extra campout, you need to make reservations soon.  Register either on line at www.reserveusa.com or 1-877-444-6777.  We are camping in Coles Creek campground.  We have people at sites 8 & 9, 24, & 27.  Kaye Frashier can get us our passes to the Balloon Festival ahead of time.  They are $2 per day or $5 for the weekend.

Dale talked to the Casino Queen and if we have 6 or more units there for the November campout, we can have free breakfast each morning for every person in your unit.  We will make reservations in August or so for the November campout.

RALLY BUSINESS:                   Dale pointed out our ½ page ad in the Jafari Hitch about our Rally in 2005.  It was a very nice write up.  He has been in contact with the Casino Queen about a catered meal and at this point has conflicting information.  He is waiting for the correct information to come.  If we just rent the room to have a meeting in it will cost $200, but if we have them cater a meal, the room is free.  He also inquired about camping there on July 4 before the Rally.  St. Louis has “Fair St. Louis” during the 4th.  They have fireworks under the arch as well as free entertainment and lots of other activities.  The Casino Queen will allow members of Flight 9 to attend the week before the rally at $18.43 per night.  He would like 6 or so of us to agree to do this.  If you have never been to Fair St. Louis before, you wouldn’t want to be driving in for it.  The traffic is horrible and staying at the Casino Queen would allow us transportation on the Metrolink.  This would give us easy access to all the July 4th activities.

New Business:       The Allbritten’s & Ryan’s have a new granddaughter.  She was born on Betty’s birthday, Thursday, January 29!  Congratulations!!!!  Dale reminded us of the RV show next weekend at the Executive Inn’s Convention center in Paducah, KY.  Roger will be there with the new Jayco’s.

John Haley made a motion to adjourn and Dave Peters seconded the motion.  All agreed.
