We held our July Campout at Fort Massac in Metropolis. Those in attendance Odel & Deirdre Allbritten, Jim, Mitzi, Jared, & Jessica Borum, Steve & Judy Dawson, Durwood & Rheitta Eleam, Mike & Melinda Ford with their daughter, Christy & Son-in-law,Randy, Vicki Knight, Dale & Jan Wright. Those guests joining us were Don & Dot Eizenga, Lonnie & Joy Knight, & most of the Wright family. Kyle, Crystal, Jordan & Ryan Allbritten, Bill & Betty Ryan, Frank & Pat Sherman, George & Mary Taylor all visited during the weekend.
Welcome to our new members Mike & Melinda Ford. We are glad to have you with us. I want to apologize to Melissa Armstrong for having her name wrong on the new membership list. It is now correct and we will have a new membership list at the Balloon Festival campout (as I probably won’t be at the Rodeo campout).
On Friday night we all enjoyed a campfire at Odell & Deirdre’s. It seems that Odell is an excellent marshmallow roaster. They were very good. On Saturday we enjoyed a beautiful day. Some visited the Fort, while others hiked the State Park. Dale, Jan & their family spent the day preparing for Michelle’s wedding. Saturday afternoon all of Metropolis lost electricity. This made for an interesting afternoon of wedding preparations. But everything turned out just fine. It was a beautiful wedding. Congratulations to Damon & Michele. While some were enjoying the wedding, the rest of us were partaking of some delicious Bar-B-Q. Mike & Melinda Ford, along with Christy & her husband, cooked up some very good meat for us all to enjoy. We had ribs, pulled pork, chicken & pork tenderloin. We all brought a side dish to add. It all made a very good meal. We had plenty of food leftover, so we had lunch on Sunday. The Bar-B-Q was just as good on Sunday as it had been on Saturday night. On Saturday night a few brave night owls visited the casino & then stayed up talking till the wee hours of the mourning. All in all I think we all enjoyed ourselves. Sunday morning most attended their own church, since we were so close to most everyone’s home. After our potluck lunch, we started packing up & heading home.
The 50/50 was won by Odell, he received $22 & the Club got $22. The door prize was furnished by the Sherman’s and won by Durwood & Rhetta.
Next month’s door prize will be furnished by the McElroy’s and they will bring it to the Balloon Festival. September’s door prize will be furnished by the Rice’s
