It was a spring stormy day at the North Sandusky campground on Rend Lake but 12 Jayco rigs weathered the storms and began arriving by late morning. Those attending were Frieda & Liale, Dale (Jan was in route to sunny Florida), Steve & Judy,  Vicki & Randy, Ellie & Wes, Bob & Wanda, Pat & Frank, Char & Jim, Joe & Ira Kaye and son John and his friend Kay, Jim & Mitzi, Cynthia & John and last and somewhat ‘least’ skinny Bill & wife Betty.  We were also pleased to have Glen &Rossann with us.

First, I would like to welcome Char & Jim Cool (they are friends of Pat & Frank) as our newest members!  We look forward to getting to know them and visa versa.  I think they will find we are good bunch of “coconuts”!

Bob & Wanda started their weekend spending a little time in the bathhouse.  No they were not taking a shower (or maybe they did) – tornado warnings will make you run for cover! In the late afternoon the weather broke for a little bit and allowed us to visit outside but in the evening the rain was back again.  John & Cynthia entertained the Sellers’ and the Borum’s in a shortened game of Phase 10.  They made us stay until 11:00 p.m.!  John had never played the game and liked it while he was winning and then once he started losing decided he didn’t like it.  Poor sport!  We laughed so much; I slept like a baby.  I’ve always heard laughter is good for the soul and it sure was Friday night.

Saturday it was sunny, but somewhat chilly & windy.  In the morning several went shopping, bike riding and the Sherman’s & Cool’s had brunch.  They missed the washer & Rungo tournament because they were bending their elbows at Denny’s Restaurant. Joe Fulton & Betty Ryan won the washer tournament, but Wes & Frieda gave them a challenge.  We ran out of time to finish the Rungo tournament so maybe it will get finished at the May campout, it’s rumored that Steve was in the lead.  Windows Restaurant was our Saturday night eating & meeting place and after filling our tummies we headed back to the Sellers’ campfire and visited until 11:00 p.m.  Thanks Bob for furnishing most of the firewood.

The weatherman delivered, as promised, sunshine and a warm 64 degrees on Sunday.  Some of us were fortunate not to have other commitments and stayed until they kicked us out at 4:00p.m. Since the Sherman’s & Cool’s missed Saturday’s games they came over and played a few rounds of Rungo.  As always we are looking forward to the next campout, especially since the men have to cook a pancake breakfast.
