FUN IN THE FLOOD! That’s how the July 2007 rally began. Several members of Flight 9 came early Thursday and literally had to wade to their campers during the heavy rain storm Thursday. But that didn’t keep our faithful campers away. Randy Knight was reported to have put on his swim trunks and sandals to get his camping chores done. Way to go Randy! Nothing keeps a good camper down. By evening the rain had let up and the group went out to eat at a local restaurant called the Feed Mill.
Friday our guests began to arrive. We had 31 rigs attending and at my last count ,78 people. Friday was filled with many activities. Some toured the local Camp Breckinridge Museum. Later there was a salad potluck, bingo, and a movie complete with popcorn and tons of laughter. Saturday was jammed packed. The men had their own Greasy Hat Society breakfast and the women enjoyed a Red Hat Society luncheon. By the way, the ladies were lovely in their elaborate hats. In between were kids’crafts, tours, and a seminar on Mor/Ryde suspensions. That afternoon, we competed in games, won prizes, had a huge dinner and listened to some great music by Keith Vincent. Was that the funky chicken Frieda Sellers was doing? To complete the day we sat by the fire and watched a spectacular fireworks display put on by the Little Sturgis Rally. Needless to say, we were pretty tired that night. Roger Youngblood provided breakfast Sunday morning. The group True Faced led us in worship music and Mark Weaver brought the sermon. There was so much food left over that we had another big potluck before we all headed for home.
We thank all who made this rally a big success and we hope all who attended enjoyed themselves.
The doorprize was donated by the Shermans and won by Wanda Ray. The August doorprize will be provided by the Wrights. Our August campout will at Duquoin, IL. for the International Rally.
